On December 6, 2016 , Mayor Steve Hogan flipped the switch to “light the lights” at the City of Aurora’s annual Holiday Celebration. This is the 5th year for this event. Five years ago, Havana BID Executive Director, Gayle Jetchick, was on a small committee made up of city staff and residents who envisioned a special event to bring all of Aurora’s diverse community together to celebrate the season. Tom Barrett and staff from the City’s PROS (Parks, Recreation and Open Space) department are the ones who transform the great lawn at the City into a colorful winter wonderland! There were carolers, dancing Christmas Trees, cookies, hot chocolate and Santa arrived on an Aurora Fire Truck! If you get a chance, drive by the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E Aurora Parkway, to see this beautiful display!
