2018 Halloween Trick-or-Treating and Costume Contests at The Gardens on Havana

The Schedule for Saturday, Oct 27, 2018:  

12 Noon to 4 p.m.  go Trick or Treating at 30+ Merchants at The Gardens on Havana.

12 Noon to 2 p.m.  get Free Pictures in Costume in the Rose Garden – 1350 S Ironton Street & Enter the Costume Contest.

2 p.m. is the Pet Costume Contest at Petco at The Gardens on Havana

1 p.m. to 3 p.m. is the Pet Costume Contest Bentley’s Pet Stuff – Market Square

3:30pm Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Costume Contest 

Go Trick or Treating:

Bring the whole family in costume to go trick-or-treating at the Merchants at The Gardens on Havana (former Buckingham Square Mall site) on the SE corner of Havana & Mississippi.  These 30+ merchants at The Gardens on Havana will all have free candy for the kids (while candy lasts).  Key Bank, Lane Bryant, McDonald’s and Wells Fargo are not able to participate due to corporate rules.

Free Professional Photos

Family/Individual professional photos for FREE in the rose garden from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. to be entered into the costume contest.  We will have a Halloween photo backdrop set up in the rose garden plaza.  A professional photographer, Molitoris Photography will be on hand from 12 noon to 2 p.m. to take your picture in costume for free.  The pictures will be posted on our Facebook page & Instagram profile @OnHavanaStreet  (no names associated) and you can print or share these pictures with your friends and family.

A committee of merchants will select the costume contest winners in the following categories:

• Most overall creative costume (kid or adult):  $100 Visa Card prize – Greatest Showman Group – 8485
• Best Adult Costume (Over 18):  $100 Visa Card prize – Jurassic World Group 8472
• Best Boys’ Costume (18 and under):  $25  Chick Fil A Gift Card prize – Trash Man 8362
• Best Girls’ Costume (18 and under):  $25  Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Gift Card prize – Chicken and Chick 8499

The following categories are open to both adults and kids in costume:

• Best Princess/Prince Costume –  Twisted Ariel Mermaid Princess 8557
• Best Funny/Creative Costume – Aviator 8426
• Best Super Hero Costume – Transformer 8378
• Best Homemade Costume – Aquarium 8364

Winners of Each Category will receive one $25 Restaurant Gift Card from one of the On Havana Street Shops (Red Robin, Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, Uncle Maddio’s Pizza)

Petco, Bentley’s Pet Stuff and On Havana Street are teaming up for the Pet Costume Contest again this year.  Bring your pet in costume to Petco at The Gardens on Havana at 2 p.m. & Bentley’s Pet Stuff at 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be great prizes for the best costumes in several categories, including best owner/pet costume!  In past years we have seen dogs, cats, turtles, mice, and even birds dressed in costume for this fun event.  Come watch the pet costume parade even if you don’t have a pet of your own!
