Art 2C On Havana:
We had 43 artists submitting over 70 sculptures for consideration for of our Art 2C On Havana exhibition in 2016. The 13 sculptures that are in the 2015/2016 exhibition will remain in place until September 29, 2016. The new sculptures are installed every October and stay in place until the following September. This public art project is just another tool in our economic develpment took kit for the Havana District.

The Havana BID trademarked the name, “Havana Motor Mile” in 2011. Click here to view our over 20 new and used car dealerships and links to their websites.
The Havana Motor Mile concept is an economic development tool the BID will use to market the District as the premiere auto sales and service destination in the state. The marketing plan will include all of our new and used car & motorcycle sales and service businesses, as well as our over 80 restaurants–since we all know people have to eat when they are out shopping for a vehicle or having their vehicle serviced.
The Havana Motor Mile will be running commercials on KUSA.

The first stores at The Gardens on Havana opened in the spring of 2009 on the site of the former Buckingham Square Mall at Mississippi & Havana. This development by Miller Realty, LLC, is a true showcase of xeriscape and roses in Colorado. The center plaza rose garden will feature water-wise shrub and climbing roses selected with the help of the Denver Rose Society.

2016 Update–Havana North Redevelopment Planned: Asbestos abatement and demolition of the old Fan Fare building was completed in January of 2014. The site is now owned by the Aurora Urban Renewal Authority. In the Spring of 2016, a market study was done and RFQ was issued to attract developers who are interested in redeveloping this site as a mixed use project.. One developer has been chosen to move on to the next step, the RFP process. AURA hopes to name a developer for this project by November 2016.
Pictured on the left is the Fan Fare Shopping Center when it was brand new in 1962 (from the Milo Ketchum website). The other pictures show a deteriorated Fan Fare after being vacant for 25+ years.
The Fanfare Shopping Center was similar to a Costco–a large department store which charged membership. It was only open a few years in the early to mid 1960’s. Some time in the early 1980’s, Western Electric used the building for a year or so as a traiing facility, otherwise the building has been vacant. It does contain asbestos, hence the need for the environmental evaluation, and has deteriorated over the years.
Havana North Concept Plan: After input from area business owners, commercial property owners, neighbors, city staff and CDOT, the Havana North Concept Plan was developed in early 2010. In April, 2010, the Havana North Concept Plan was adopted by Aurora City Council as an amendment to the 2009 City of Aurora Master Plan.
