Celebrate International Women’s Day with a Purple Ribbon at Solomon’s

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY IS MARCH 8! Organizers encourage everyone to wear a purple ribbon to show support, love and respect towards the wonderful women in their lives! International Women’s Day has been celebrated in the former Soviet Union since the early 1920’s, but here in the U.S. students at the University of Chicago celebrated their first known International Women’s Day on March 8, 1978.

Solomon’s Grocery & European Deli, owned/operated by the Gurzhiev family originally from Uzbekistan, has celebrated International Women’s Day each year for many years and 2017 is no different. This year, Solomon, Mark and Ada of Solomon’s Grocery invite you to stop by their store and pick up your free purple ribbon stickers and wear them proudly for International Women’s Day on March 8, 2017.

It is an Eastern European tradition to purchase boxes of chocolates for the special women in your life for IWD, and Solomon’s has ordered extra boxes of Russian and Eastern European chocolates for this special holiday.
