Effective June 1, 2021, Menstrual Care Products are exempt from City of Aurora sales tax

April 20th, 2021

Good day,

Effective June 1, 2021, Menstrual Care Products are exempt from City of Aurora sales tax. Note that this only applies to the city of Aurora’s 3.75 percent sales and use tax and the products are still taxable by the State of Colorado and it’s subdivisions. Retailers should discontinue Aurora sales tax collection on sales of these products starting on June 1st, 2021. For a copy of the ordinance 2021-09 visit the city’s website at auroragov.org/tax.

Menstrual care products means tampons, panty liners, menstrual cups, sanitary napkins, and other similar tangible personal property designed for hygiene in connection with the human menstrual cycle, but does not include “grooming and hygiene products.”
