APIAHIP National Conference Visits On Havana Street x Korea Town Aurora in Aurora, CO

APIAHiP FORUM 2026 –
Korea Town Aurora in partnership with On Havana Street – Havana BID, and the Aurora History Museum and Historic Sites, will be hosting the APIAHip (Asian & Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation- https://apiahip.org/) on
Friday, September 11, 2026 – Saturday, September 12th, as part of this conference.

Inspired by last Forum’s LITeraoke, join host Sean Choi and emcee Meta Sarmiento — Guam-born Filipino rapper, poet, and educator based in Aurora — for an evening of performances, music, and good company in the heart of Koreatown on Havana St. Enjoy the show, or maybe grab the mic yourself. Shuttle service, light snacks, and drinks provided for conference attendees.

Tour of KTA and On Havana Street in Aurora, CO
- Lunch with 80-100 APIAHIP attendees at Seoul Korean BBQ and Hot Pot – Seoul Hospitality Group.
- KTA will provide all participants in the tour with their names written in Korean Calligraphy
- KTA will provide Korea Town Aurora cloth bags with souvenirs from local markets sponsored by On Havana Street and KTA businesses. OHS Items to include goodies from Seoul Station, OHS fans, Visit Aurora Guide magazines featuring OHS and KTA, and other promotional items.

A business and history walk at the Kwon Shopping Center featuring Korean and international businesses.

A meeting with the owners of M-Mart – Lee Family (who will be receiving a historic designation).

A tour of the Korean War Memorial

This will be followed by a welcome event at the Aurora History Museum, hosted by the Aurora History Museum and Historic Sites in partnership with the City of Aurora
The conference attracts an estimated 150 people from all over the US. We anticipate 80 to 100 people to attend this portion of the conference.
On Havana Street hosted APIA HIP on June 25, 2025, and their organization chose to host their national conference in CO after their visit.
