About the Business: Amy Arthur is a graduate of Aurora’s Smoky Hill High School. Amy has been in the printing business since she was 18. She moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado where she went to work in a shop selling screen printed and embroidered Colorado souvenir T-shirts and hats. Hunky Dory Screenprint was created in 1973 by Ron Aguilar, named after his favorite saying, “Everything’s Hunky Dory.” Amy moved back to Aurora in 1998 and purchased Kingpin Embroidery, which was in the tenant space adjacent to Hunky Dory Screenprint. Ron and Amy worked their businesses next door to each other up until the time that Ron passed away of cancer in 2008. Amy Arthur took over Hunky Dory in 2008 and continues to also run Kingpin Embroidery. Hunky Dory prints the Cruzin’ Havana T-Shirts and Amy drives Ron’s custom 1977 VW “Hippie Surfer” Van in the Cruzin’ Havana poker run each year in his memory. Amy will be selling Cruzin’ Havana T-Shirts out of the VW Van at the Gibby’s/Buckingham Village Festival Site at Cruzin’ Havana on June 15 again this year.
