AURORA, Colo. – The city is accepting nominations until Aug. 31 for this year’s Business Recognition
Award Program. Winners will be honored at the 14th annual Aurora Business Recognition Award
ceremony in December at the Aurora Municipal Center.
The Aurora Business Recognition Awards Program, which began in 2005, celebrates successful
businesses that are leaders in the workplace and community. It recognizes not only the economic vitality
that businesses of all sizes and types bring to Aurora, but also the influence that businesses have on where people live, work, shop and play.
Potential nominees, which must be licensed in the city of Aurora and registered with the state of
Colorado, should demonstrate:
Proven longevity in Aurora
Introduction of a unique product or service innovation within their industry during the prior year
Exceptional customer service as indicated by their customers
Proven contributions to enhance the community and giving back to show commitment to Aurora’s
future
For self-nominating businesses/organizations (or their lenders), please address the following additional
criteria (as applicable). City staff will supplement this information for all other nominators:
Proven tax generator
Significant growth in the past year
Employment retention and/or growth
The city of Aurora also will select an Aurora business that demonstrates a commitment to sustainability,
energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste diversion, water conservation and/or social responsibility.
The Aurora-South Metro Small Business Development Center coordinates the awards program. The city
of Aurora’s Business Advisory Board, which serves as the selection committee, was formed in 1990 to
advise the Aurora City Council on the economic and business impact of city legislative and regulatory
actions.
