On Havana Street Supports Community Partners & Volunteers at Visit Aurora VOLUNTEER WEEK | JUL. 29 – AUG. 2

Ronald McDonald House Aurora

For 40 years, Ronald McDonald House has been keeping families of sick children together and near the medical care that they need. Help their team with a cleanup project that will benefit the families staying in the house.

On Havana Street and businesses volunteered on Tuesday, July 30th from 1:00pm – 3:30pm at Ronald McDonald House- Aurora!

Organization: Ronald McDonald House – Aurora

About the Organization: We provide temporary housing for out-of-area families needing to be near their hospitalized children at no cost to them.  Between our two houses, the Aurora House and the Denver House, we’re able to keep 118 families close to their hospitalized children each night.  In addition, we operate four Ronald McDonald Family Rooms which offer families a place to rest and regroup just steps away from their child’s hospital bed and our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program provides medical services to uninsured, or under-insured families.

Address: 932 N Potomac Cir, Aurora, CO 80011

Project: We re-painted picnic tables outside for their visitors to use.

Colorado Freedom Memorial

Stop by the nation’s only memorial of it’s kind as you help the founders of the memorial, Rick and Diane Crandall, with general maintenance of the memorial including glass cleaning, fountain cleaning, and more.

On Havana Street and business partners in the Eastern Metro community attended Thursday August 1 from 8:00am-10:00am at the Colorado Freedom Memorial.

Organization: Colorado Freedom Memorial

About the Organization: The Colorado Freedom Memorial is located in Aurora, Colorado near Buckley Air Force Base.  Constructed of glass panels that reflect Colorado’s mountains and blue skies the Memorial holds the names of over 6,000 Coloradans killed or missing in action. They are grouped by war, but names will not be alphabetically listed. Much of the Colorado Freedom Memorial is meant to reflect the chaos of war, including the shuffling of names.

Address:   756 Telluride St, Aurora, CO 80011

Project: Volunteers helped with general cleaning of the Memorial such as cleaning the glass panels, the fountain and pick up around the park.
