Our Parks, Our Places: A Plan for Aurora’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space
The city of Aurora Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department is embarking on a planning process over the next year to look at all the parks, open spaces and recreation in the city. The purpose of the project is to understand the community’s needs now and in the future.
The project will focus on five key areas: equitable access in using our sites and programs, improving connections with the community and businesses, increasing health and safety of both nature and users, resilient and sustainable growth in a fast-growing city and increasing efficiency in operations.
Public engagement will occur in every step of the process to ensure the final plan reflects the community’s needs and desires. Visit EngageAurora.org/AuroraParks to take the first survey available until Sunday, Aug. 28. The survey is also available in a paper version at locations throughout the city, including at the Aurora Center for Active Adults (30 W. Del Mar Circle) and at Access Aurora on the first floor of the Aurora Municipal Center (15151 E. Alameda Parkway). The website and survey are available in AmharicEnglishKoreanMandarinSpanish and Vietnamese.
For the latest news on how the community can share their voices, visit EngageAurora.org/AuroraParks and sign-up to stay updated on input opportunities and fun community events happening throughout the summer and fall. For those unable to attend an event in person or participate in the online survey, individuals can leave their feedback in writing on the website comment box or via email at [email protected].
