Through immense support and collaboration between Colorado Korean Restaurant AssociationOn Havana StreetKorean Amateur Sports Association of Colorado, and Aurora Sister Cities International, the tournament was constructively prepared and attracted community’s passion and support. Prior to the start of the tournament at 8AM on Thursday, approximately 30 volunteers were busy distributing tournament souvenirs to participants and handing out breakfast burritos to cheer them up.

Mayor of the city of Aurora Mike Coffman, who visited Meadow Hills Golf Course on the same morning, said “It is very impressive that the Korean community is working together to hold such a successful golf tournament despite the tough times. Our city will continue to cooperate with Aurora Sister Cities International and the Korean community for the successful establishment of the KoreaTown in the city of Aurora.”

Throughout the tournament, he passionately worked and helped other hosts and volunteers for the sake of successful launching of this event. “This tournament aims to gather the Korean community together amid pandemic and raise community awareness to support establishment of KoreaTown in the city of Aurora. We appreciate everyone’s participation and help throughout this tournament and wish to see Korean golf lovers again for our 2nd tournament next year,” he said.

The 1st KoreaTown Aurora Golf Tournament’s gold sponsors were DAEGEE, H-Mart, and the Korean Amateur Sports Association of Colorado. The funds raised through the golf tournament will be used mainly for the public relations purpose of promoting KoreaTown Aurora, including distribution of brochures, printings, and the KoreaTown Aurora website management. The 1st Aurora KoreaTown Charity Golf Tournament’s male and female champions were Amelia Lee and Eui Song Kang both with 71.
