Working Together for a Safe Community

February 6th, 2017

Thank you High Hollows Condos Board and Aurora Police!  Last summer we experienced an uptick in crime in the area around Havana/Ironton and Exposition.  We called a Business Watch meeting at the Expo Park Recreation Center on Exposition and invited neighbors, business owners, city staff and Aurora Police to that meeting to attempt to figure out why we were seeing this uptick in crime in the area.  A resident at High Hollows Condos graciously came forward to explain what residents were experiencing at High Hollows.  Several months after that initial Business Watch meeting and after a coordinated effort by all, crime is down and area residents and business owners have seen a substantial improvement.

In an email to the Havana BID Executive Director, one High Hollows Board member wrote, “The High Hollows Board and their new management firm has managed to rid the complex of some of the tenants who’ve caused GREAT problems in our community, are working tirelessly on others, have hired  a new management company (effective 12/1/16), provided all owners with revised Rules and Regulations, as well as adopting & are enforcing  a ‘no crime addendum,’ etc., & other means of deterrence by immediately having management firm act on APD reports of violations by notifying owners, following up & thru with repeat offenders; because former management firms failed, & with the ongoing help of APD.”

All of these efforts to create a safe community are much appreciated.
