AURORA. BE HEARD. BE SEEN. BE COUNTED

December 2nd, 2019

Aurora is growing in population, diversity, business activity and vibrancy. The 2020 Census is a unique opportunity for us to support the growth we are seeing in our community. Our goal is for each and every Aurora resident to be counted as part of the census. It is vital for Aurora’s future federal funding and success during the next decade. On average, the city receives approximately $2,300 for every resident counted—no matter the individual’s age, address or country of origin. That means, missing one person is a loss of $23,000 in funding for the next 10 years.

The census population count directly impacts federal and state dollars the city will receive until 2030. These funds support city programs, roads, schools, hospitals, senior centers, emergency services and more to serve our growing community. Census data also help determine representation in government; Colorado is set to gain at least one congressional seat if an accurate count is achieved. Also, census data are used to inform and assist businesses in building stores, recruiting employees and conducting market research.

We are counting on all of you to help spread the word and get Aurora to–Be Seen. Be Heard. Be Counted.
